Wrist or hand MRI scan
Magnetic resonance imaging is the most accurate and reliable imaging method in case of wrist or hand problems.
The most common reasons for requesting an MRI scan of the wrist and hand are suspected fractures and problems caused by accidents and sports injuries. An MRI scan is also advisable in case of prolonged wrist pain.
The condition of the cartilage of the articular surfaces in the wrist can only be reliably assessed by magnetic resonance imaging. MRI is always the preferred method for examining the tendons and ligaments of the wrist.
With rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory changes in the joints can also be detected at an early stage with MRI.
